Mr. Harcourt.
Sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge
the receipt of Sir F.Lugard's despatch
No.77 of the 6th of March and to inform
you that I am prepared to agree to the
proposal that nurses should be permitted
to retire on pension at the age of 50 year
provided that they have by that time com-
pleted not less than 15 years' service in
the Colony.
2.
I consider, however, that a
further condition should be attached to
the grant of this privilege. The rule
under which an officer receives a pension
at the rate of 15/60ths of his salary for
ten years' service and a further sixtieth
for each additional year is practically
equivalent
